I made a phoenix as a legendary monster in the game. This is its idle animation before the player begins combat with it.
Once the Phoenix is killed, it reincarnates as a special gilded egg that you can hatch. We wanted it to be immediately clear to the player that this egg is unlike the other eggs that they find, so I decked it out with a phoenix design.
We want the player to know what their egg needs or is thinking so that they know when the egg doesn't have proper care. The eggs now hop and show a little speech bubble indicating their current condition. If the egg needs heat, it'll display a thermometer. In this case, the egg is happy and displays a heart. If it is mistreated, it will show a broken heart.
